Google began as a small research project by two Stanford Ph.D. students named Larry Page and Sergey Brin. They used discounted computer parts and their own credit cards to start the company. The founders chose the name because it sounded like a googol, a number that is equal to one followed by 100 zeros. The goal of the company was to organize a seemingly infinite amount of information on the web and make it easy for people to find what they are looking for.

The name has even entered the lexicon as a verb; when someone finds information on the Internet, they often say that they “Googled it.”

Google Drive is an online storage service that lets you store and access files from anywhere, using any device with an Internet connection. Google Docs is a suite of free web-based applications that allow you to create and edit documents. Then, you can share them with other users who have access to the same document. Other services include Google Forms, which is a tool that lets you create online forms to collect information. Google Fiber is a limited service available in some states that offers a fiber connection to the Internet. And lastly, there is Google Express, which is a delivery service.
