Yes, as long as you prevent Ubuntu from installing a bootloader to the MBR. This setting is at the very end of the guided installer, you’ll want to change the grub setting from (hd0) to (hd0,1) or whichever partition Ubuntu will be installed to.

can windows be encrypted first, and then ubuntu installed ?

I’ve been working fine with a dual boot setup with XP and EeeBuntu, with grub installed to a /boot partition. I want to use truecrypt for the XP system partition, but the truecrypt boot loader test always results in booting Windows when I hit “escape” instead of loading grub. I’ve seen someone mention moving the truecrypt boot loader from /mbr to the /boot partition, but I’m not sure how to do that. I’d really like to have grub load first, then truecrypt ask for the key if I choose XP from grub. Follow me?
